Company Background:
Danvers Community Access Television (DCAT) provides video and media production tools to encourage the free exchange of information and ideals in Danvers, MA. It also hosts televised public content (including local sports and government meetings) and all member-created content on its website for public consumption.
CHALLENGE
Redesign the DCAT website to create a more modern and user-friendly experience that encourages the digital consumption of available programs, while staying true to the existing DCAT brand and design elements. Currently, they are limited to the amount of content they are hosting on the site, as accessing it is not user-friendly and the pages have a high load time.

REDESIGN

Brand Identity
Created "Style Tile" to represent existing visual brand, including logos, fonts, and colors. This was used to guide the design process.
Homepage
- Modified color palette to better reflect brand colors & style tile
- Updated overall style to create more balance and better reflect modern design best practices
- Created individual callouts for major content features (gov't meetings, sports, member productions)
- Added additional call outs for other DCAT services, including youth activities and volunteering

Program Listing
- Tabbed Listing view that allows more content types and streamlines user navigation to reach the content type they are looking for.
- Thumbnails (rather than embedded video clips) to speed up page content and allow for more listing on a single page.
- Title and description - allows for information such as the date/location of a government meeting and a description of the agenda, making it easier for users to find the specific meeting they are looking for.

Member-Produced Show Episode Listings
- Added title & member names to make it easier to find content based on both show name and user. Since most viewers know the community member whose content they view, this is particularly important. It also allows the member to provide this page as an example of published work for their own portfolio.
- Show descriptions added to allow visitors unfamiliar with a program to learn if its content interests them.
- Episode breakdown added under show listing; previously all episodes of all shows were added to the same single member content page, with no organization. This allows someone interested in a certain program to consume all content related to that program more easily.
